on gardening - sort of

I find gardening fascinating. Tending to so many individual plants, fighting weeds, and ordering it all in such a way that the garden becomes a living, breathing place where one can go to simply be. A place of community and solitude. Or to put it in modern terms:

a place to touch grass.

If you are familiar with the Christian faith, you have probably come across the notion, that our faith, our relationship to Christ, is like a garden. We need to take care of this garden. And what purpose would this garden have, if we didn’t spend leisure time in it as well?

”A garden locked, is my sister, my bride. A spring locked, a fountain sealed”

This verse here from Song of Solomon Chapter 4 did admittedly sound strange when a first read it a couple years ago. But soon I’ve found, that there is something beautiful about having a place in one’s heart, where only the bridegroom, where only Christ himself is allowed to enter.

“The inner chamber”

It is Sunday today. A good day to take care of our garden. A good day to tidy up your chamber. And a good day to just spend quality time with the one who loved you first.

Dave

Bless you
